    Carrizo Springs Junior High School

    UIL One-Act Play Company Wins at District!

     

    The Carrizo Springs Junior High School UIL One-Act Play Company competed on Saturday, December 2, 2017 for District 29–4A Competition at the Carrizo Springs CISD Performing Arts Auditorium. The UIL OAP Company performed to the play “Sunday Cost Five Pesos” by Josephina Niggli.  Contest Manager was Mr. Ezekiel Morgan. Judges were: Phillip Taylor, Cynthia Ramon and Cathy Huvar.

     

    Congratulations to the members of this talented Company and Directors for continuing its tradition and bringing home a win. The company won the 2nd place Plaque, 11 silver medals and 4 individual award medals.  The individual awards were as follows; Leviticus Esquibel, Honorable Mentioned All-Star Cast; Catalina Ruiz, All-Star Cast; Makayla Cantu, Tech Honor Crew; and taking the highest honor was Brianna Mejia, District Best Actress.

     

    UIL One-Act Director Mireles would like to thank all the parents, friends, family and local community members that attended the contest and provided support. Special thanks to the following individuals for helping with props/furniture: Celia Villarreal, Alika Vega, Jose Mireles & Guadalupe Puente (costumes) and Sinaloa Lopez (hanky).

     

    Thank you to the following individuals for their continued support of UIL Academics; Mr. Ronnie Yandell & Building Trades classes; Dora Garza & Gene Gutierrez of Maintenance Dept.; Principals & Office Staff, Maria Villarreal and Michelle Gonzalez. Thank you also to Botello’s T-Shirts; Michael Carrillo, Tech Specialist; Jason Wallace and the HS Theater Arts students.

     

    Additional appreciation to the following parents/staff for helping us feed some very hungry youngsters during late rehearsals: Ms. Melissa Romo, Mr. & Mrs. Adolfo Arias, Ms. Joy Bolin, Mr. & Mrs. Luis Ruiz, Mr. & Mrs. Catarino/Laurie Ruiz, Rachel Garza and Olga Mireles.

     

    A grand thank you Ruben Escamilla, District UIL Coordinator and to all high school staff/students that helped host the contest at the High School and made it so successful. We received many compliments on how smoothly it ran and how courteous everyone was from staff to students.

     

    The OAP Company has one last performance for the student body. Date to be announced later.

    RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND
    OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE.
