Outstanding Business Students Travel to Corpus Christi to Participate

at the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference

 

Top students from Carrizo Springs High School will be attending the Business Professionals of America 2007 State Leadership Conference, in Corpus Christi, Texas, February 28 – March 3, 2007.

 

Carrizo Springs High School chapter members, Caitlyn Autry and Veronica Guevara will join over 2,000 other conference delegates from across the state to participate in state level business skill competitions, general sessions, and the state officer candidate campaigns and elections.  Besides having the opportunity to excel, they’ll experience Corpus Christi as they visit the city’s exciting sites.

 

“Students from the Texas Association’s Regional Leadership Conference previously held at Judson High School, have qualified to participate at the state level conference.  The conference emphasizes business workforce education and training which members of the local chapter of Business Professionals of America at Carrizo Springs High School have received,” said chapter advisor, Mrs. Paula Chitty, who teaches BCIS I and BIMM. 

 

Veronica Guevara placed second in Legal Office Procedures in which she competed against students from Judson, McCullum, San Antonio Business Careers High School, Wagner, and other San Antonio area schools. This event raised her standing as a state contender. Veronica was tested over many of the areas businesses deal with daily.

 

Caitlyn Autry participated in Presentation Management Individual in which she placed second. Her presentation covered conflict in the workplace. She presented ways to deal with the many aspects of conflict.  She participated with schools such as San Antonio Business Careers High School, Fox Tech Health Careers, Medina Valley, Hondo and various other area schools. Caitlyn is placed as a state contender

Caitlyn also participated in the Torch Awards Program in which she must meet standards in areas such as leadership, community services, cooperation, knowledge, friendship, love, hope, faith, and patriotism.  She has earned both the executive and diplomat honors in which she will be honored at the state conference in a special awards ceremony. 

 

Business Professionals of America is a national organization for middle school, high school, and college students preparing for careers in business and office occupations.  The organization’s activities and programs complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of the skills learned at school.  Business Professionals of America acts as a cohesive agent in the nationwide networking of education and business and industry, and is contributing to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills.

 

Cassandra Serrano also attended the Regional meet at Judson High School, while this was her first year to compete, she did not advance to the state level but she did an excellent job of representing Carrizo Springs High School. 

Congratulations to all these young ladies for their hard work and determination to put forth their best efforts to show the larger schools Carrizo Springs High School can compete with them.
