Success Story
Juan “Tito” Delgado

Mr. Juan “Tito” Delgado, Jr. was a guest speaker at the Carrizo Springs High School on Friday, February 16, 2007.  Mr. Delgado is an area local who attended school in Crystal City, Texas.  He was a very popular athlete and was voted “Most Handsome” in High School.  His life changed drastically when he got involved in the use of illegal drugs.  Tito shared is life story briefly to the students.  Juan “Tito” Delgado, Jr. was homeless, a recovering substance abuser and had been in prison for nine years before he began classroom training for social life skills and job readiness training at Goodwill.
Goodwill helped Tito’s transition to employment by providing him with clothing vouchers, bus tokens, housing assistance and, not least of all, encouragement.  Soon after he finished training he obtained a job at Goodwill and later was hired as a laborer for the City of Corpus Christi, where, within three months, he had been promoted to a truck driver position.
Employment helped Tito regain his confidence.  More importantly, his new lifestyle started the healing process between himself, his family and children.
Tito is now employed by Family Service Association of San Antonio, Inc. with a satellite office in Crystal City, Texas which provides family strengthening curriculum, parenting services and intervention counseling services.
