Out of State TAKS Testing

As families begin to leave this summer to do migrant work both inside and outside of Texas, recruiters should remind parents to check on their child’s TAKS status. To find out if children in the 3rd, 5th, or 11th/12th (exit level) grades should take the TAKS test this summer, parents should work with their school counselor or contact the Texas Migrant Interstate Program (TMIP) at 1-800-292-7006 to verify this critical information. NGS Question

If migrant students attend regular education summer school, not MEP-funded, does the NGS Data Specialist still enter enrollment and withdrawal dates for summer school on NGS?

No, for the purposes of the MEP, in order to count any migrant student for summer services or summer school attendance, the services must be MEP-funded.
