Guidon Competition Round III

Cadets from Carrizo Springs High School Corps of Cadets conducted their Third monthly Guidon competition for the month of Dec in the school year on Wednesday, December 14, 2005. Each of the five Companies of the Wildcat Battalion is responsible for the training of selected cadets in the “Manual of Guidon” and providing a Guidon Bearer for each monthly competition during the year.  The guidon is a company identification flag and is present at all unit formations.  This year’s competitions are being performed to a prerecorded set of commands.  The early December wind was blustering, the air was dry and cold, the tape recording of precision movements was blaring and Cadet Sergeant Paloma Lopez of Bravo Company was able to prevail as the top Guidon Bearer once again of this tough competition. The top three finishers of the competition were as follows: Third Place, Cadet Sergeant Joseph A. Martinez, Charlie Company; Second Place was Cadet Private Samuel Arredondo, Echo Company and First Place was Cadet Sergeant Paloma Lopez. The next monthly competition will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2005 at the High School JROTC Training Area # 3 and the public is invited.
